As the cross-country season comes to a close, Wright City High School boasts a rising star in
the running scene. Jaxon Hill is a dedicated and passionate student-athlete, who made a
name for himself with impressive finishing times and a positive attitude.
Hill’s journey in cross country has been guided by his favorite coach, Johnny Crabtree. “He
has been instrumental in my success as a runner and as a student athlete,” Hill said. “He has
impacted me by helping me persevere through tough times both on and off the course.”
In the world of team sports, camaraderie is essential, and Hill found inspiration in his
previous teammate, Alex Roath. “Alex has been a role model of mine,” Hill said. “He was
always a great leader when we needed one.”

Academically, it’s Ms. Rhonda Bishop who holds a special place in Hill’s heart. “Ms. Bishop
has always been my favorite teacher,” he said. “She has taught me many important life
lessons. She is fun, loving, and a caring teacher, and we always have fun in her class.”
To prepare for the season that just ended, Hill dedicated himself to staying in shape and
running consistently during the off-season.
Beyond the realm of sports, cross country has instilled valuable life lessons in Hill. “Even
when times get tough, I can get through it, and to always give 110% in everything I do in
life,” Hill reflects. The sport has equipped him with the resilience and determination
required to overcome life’s hurdles.
One of Hill’s cherished memories involves running the crossroads with his teammates,
creating bonds that extend beyond the sport. Looking ahead, Hill has both team and
individual goals for the season: “Our team goal is qualifying for state, but my individual
goals include making All-State this year.”
As he looks beyond high school, Hill aspires to run at the collegiate level while pursuing a
degree in either radiology or aviation. With his dedication, discipline and supportive
network, Jaxon Hill is undoubtedly set to blaze new trails in both his athletic and academic
pursuits.
