Broken Bow Lady Savages Track Team – Presented by James Hodge Dodge of Broken Bow

The Broken Bow girls track team enters the 2024 season with a strong core of experienced athletes and rising stars ready to make their mark. With a mix of state champions, proven leaders, and young talent, Head Coach Rick Lang is confident in what his team can accomplish. “We have a great group of girls this year who are dedicated to working hard and competing at a high level,” Lang said. “Their commitment and effort make coaching them a privilege.”

Leading the way for the Lady Savages is senior Kennedee Brittain, a dominant force in the throwing events. Brittaincaptured a state championship in the shot put as a freshman and has been a consistent state placer in both shot and discus throughout her career. Now, in her final season, she’s looking to add to her already impressive résumé before heading to the next level. “Kennedee has been a cornerstone of our program for years,” Lang said. “She sets the standard for what it means to be a competitor, and we’re excited to see what she does this year.”

Another key addition to the team is sophomore Jaylen Cauthron, who transferred back to Broken Bow and brings valuable state-level experience. She was a state qualifier and medalist as a freshman, and her speed and jumping ability will be a major asset. “Jaylen has the potential to be one of our top performers this season,” Lang said. “She’s got the talent and the experience, and we’re looking forward to seeing her contribute in a big way.”

Senior Haylie Brantley may not always get the spotlight, but her impact on the team is undeniable. A three-time state qualifier and state placer as a junior, Brantley has proven herself as one of the most versatile and hardworking athletes on the squad. “Haylie is the definition of an all-around athlete,” Lang said. “She can do it all when it comes to running, and her leadership and experience make her invaluable to our team.”

With a blend of veteran leadership and promising young talent, the Lady Savages are primed for a strong season. As always, they’ll be ready to compete at the highest level when it matters most.
