Senior Braddock Stovall has learned to let his work speak for him, both on the baseball diamond and the basketball court.
“I play baseball and basketball,” Stovall said. “In baseball I played shortstop and outfield. In basketball I played forward.”
Stovall said sports have shaped his character as much as his stats. “My sport has taught me hard work and dedication,” he said. “I use these attributes in my everyday life.”
In the classroom, one teacher has also guided him beyond the curriculum. “My favorite teacher is Mrs. Bryant,” he said. “She has mentored me in my walk with Christ.”
At home, his father sets the standard. “My father,” Stovall said. “He always shows up and loves his family and that’s the kind of man I strive to be.”
Among teammates, one has stood out in shaping the culture. “Sebastian Nash has left the biggest impression on me,” he said. “He works hard and holds everyone accountable, including himself. He’s been a great teammate.”
Stovall said wearing Battiest across his chest means more than just a jersey. “I love wearing my town’s name on my chest,” he said. “I love representing the hard‑working people of Battiest, Oklahoma.”
Discipline, he added, is the key to consistency. “Be discipline even when you don’t feel like it,” he said of the best advice he’s ever received.
He is quick to thank the people who have walked beside him. “I would like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the many opportunities he has blessed me with,” Stovall said. “I would also like to thank my coaches, family, and friends who have shaped me to be the person I am.”
As a role model, he looks to a legend built on routine and composure. “Derek Jeter,” he said. “He wasn’t the flashiest or the strongest arm, but he mastered the fundamentals and stayed calm under pressure.”
