From little-league courts to varsity hardwood, Greydon Howell has evolved into one of Broken Bow’s most dynamic all-around student-athletes. As a sophomore, he’s already building a legacy — not just in points, but in heart, grit, and a commitment to community. Broken Bow coaches called Howell the backbone of their 2024–25 basketball squad. Last season, he led the team in scoring with a blistering 27.0 points per game, while shooting at a 54% clip.
That kind of production didn’t come by accident. Howell balances basketball with three other sports — baseball, football, and track — and says he thrives on the challenge. “It pushes me to be the best on and off the court.”
But the path hasn’t always been smooth. Early injuries tested his resolve. “It took pain, for one. There’s been a bunch of injuries I have/had to play with,” Howell admitted.
Still, that adversity only reinforced what matters most to him: loyalty, work ethic, and making those around him better.
That focus has paid off across every sport. On the spring track team, Howell revisited a childhood love: “Our elementary track meets were always the best days of the year when I was little,” he recalled. The thrill of competition carried him through to strong showings at the 2024 OSSAA State Meet, where he medaled in the 200 and 400 meters.
Football, too, has embraced his talents. After returning to the gridiron under a new coaching staff, Howell became a true dual threat: passing with precision, running with speed.
Even with all that, basketball continues to hold a special place. Head coach Ryan Woolsey lauds him as a rising star: “One of the state’s top players… even as a freshman, averaging over 20 points per game, with several games scoring in the 40s.”
Off the court, Howell carries a bigger purpose. He often speaks about representing his town — a tight-knit community he loves. “I love this town to death but there isn’t a college here… I’m motivated to go to college and pursue a degree.”
As quarterback, guard, outfielder and sprinter — and student — Howell embodies what it means to be a modern multi-sport athlete: fiercely dedicated, relentlessly driven, and deeply rooted. And for Broken Bow, he isn’t just a star — he’s a standard.
