VYPE: Who has been your favorite coach throughout your career and how did they impact you as a player?
Mia Reich: Mr. Crabtree is my favorite coach. He always shows up to practice and encourages us to keep pushing ourselves and to never stop growing, not just as a runner, but as an individual. He always prays with us before our races.
VYPE: Did you have any teammates that you admire or that supported you?
MR: All my teammates inspire me in one way or another, but if I had to choose one, I would say Landry Vaughn. She has always been someone I look up to and she is always there for me.
VYPE: Who was your favorite teacher and how were they influential in your life?
MR: My favorite teacher would have to be Mrs. Tuck. She has taught me it is okay to fail and try again. When we first walked into her classroom, she told us that we would fail, but that is how we learn and grow.
VYPE: What preparation have you taken this off-season to better equip yourself for the upcoming season?
MR: This year I have lifted weights more frequently and that seems to have helped me significantly.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
MR: My sport has taught me that I can push my body further than when my mind tries to tell me to stop.
VYPE: What has been your favorite memory in your sport?
MR: My favorite memory is winning the JR High All-State Championship. First time in Lady Jax Cross Country history!
VYPE: What do you hope to accomplish this season?
MR: My dream is to make it to state as a team, but challenging myself to go individually if we fall short this year.
VYPE: What matchup are you most looking forward to this season?
MR: I am excited to see how we run compared to Hooker.
VYPE: What are your plans after high school?
MR: My plans after high school are to attend the University of Central Oklahoma. I want to further my education at the University of New Haven and receive a master’s degree in forensic science. After that, I plan to attend the FBI academy.
