Ashlyn Bond knows firsthand the dedication it takes to excel as an athlete. “I work hard at what I do,” says the Battiest High School senior, who has built a name for herself as a multi-sport athlete playing softball, cross country, track and field, and basketball. But it’s on the softball field, specifically as a centerfielder, where Ashlyn finds her stride. Her versatility as a utility player has been a key asset to her team, especially in crucial moments. Reflecting on her high school career, Ashlyn says, “One of the highlights of my career was winning the districts in softball. It was tough, but we won the districts.”
Her sister has been a constant source of encouragement, reminding Ashlyn to “play my hardest and never give up.” This motivation, combined with the influence of her dad, who was a skilled athlete himself, drives Ashlyn to give her all in every game. “My Dad influences me because he used to play sports, and he was good at it, and I looked up to him,” she shares. His legacy fuels her commitment to the sport, and her dedication shows each time she steps on the field.
Ashlyn also finds inspiration in her Criminal Justice instructor, who “always gives me life lessons and tells me to never give up.” This encouragement has helped her approach challenges with resilience, a mindset she’s taken to heart. Her advice to others echoes this sentiment: “Giving up is never the option. If you make a mistake, you can always fix it.”
Representing her school and community is an honor Ashlyn holds with pride. “When I represent my school and community while playing, it means carrying their values and pride on my shoulders,” she explains. Each game is more than just a competition for Ashlyn; it’s an opportunity to showcase “dedication, teamwork, and respect, both on and off the field.”
As graduation nears, Ashlyn looks forward to continuing her journey by pursuing college, a step that will allow her to further develop the passion and determination that has shaped her success in high school sports.
