Talihina’s Landen Griffith
There are few moments in high school sports that stay with an athlete forever. For Talihina senior Landen Griffith, winning the 2025 state championship is one of those moments.
The championship stands as the accomplishment Griffith is most proud of, not only because of the trophy but because of everything it represented. Years of preparation, long practices and countless sacrifices finally paid off on the biggest stage.
A three-sport athlete at Talihina, Griffith competes in football, basketball and baseball, embracing the challenge of staying active year-round. Each sport has helped shape his character in different ways, but all three have reinforced the same core values.
“Sports has helped me with discipline and the value of hard work,” Griffith said. “Those things never leave you once you have them.”
That mindset has become central to the way Griffith approaches both athletics and life. He understands success is rarely accidental. It is built through consistency, accountability and the willingness to keep working even when progress feels slow.
One lesson Griffith carries with him daily is simple but powerful: attitude matters.
“Attitude is everything,” Griffith said. “It’s helped me through all aspects of my life, just understanding how to handle success and failure.”
That perspective has allowed him to stay grounded during both high points and setbacks. Whether celebrating a championship win or working through difficult moments, Griffith believes mindset often determines how far someone can go.
Griffith said he has been fortunate to learn from every teacher throughout his education and values the impact each has made on his journey. He feels each educator has contributed equally, helping shape both his academic growth and personal development.
The same gratitude extends to his teammates. Rather than singling out one player, Griffith said the bond he shares with his teammates is what makes sports meaningful.
“I have so many amazing teammates, it’s hard to pick just one,” he said.
Off the field, Griffith gives back by helping coach youth sports, investing in younger athletes who look up to players like him. He also appreciates the close-knit community of Talihina, especially its small-town atmosphere. For Griffith, no place feels more like home than the football field, where friendships are strengthened and memories are made.
