Q&A with Haworth’s Kagaan Bryant – Athlete Spotlight

VYPE: What position(s) do you play, and which do you feel most confident in?
 KB: The positions I play in slow pitch are shortstop and outfield. I feel more confident playing shortstop.

VYPE: How long have you been playing softball, and what first got you interested in the sport?
 KB: I’ve been playing softball since I was 3 years old. My mom made me try it out, and I’ve loved it ever since.

VYPE: What’s one skill you’ve worked hardest to improve, and how has it changed your game?
 KB: I’ve worked the hardest on my hitting. It has changed my game because it made me a stronger hitter and gave me more confidence offensively.

VYPE: What do you think sets you apart from other players on the field?
 KB: I’m always encouraging and strive to be a kind, supportive teammate.

VYPE: What has been your proudest moment in softball so far?
 KB: My proudest moment of softball was having the opportunity to play softball when I transferred back to my hometown district.

VYPE: How would your teammates describe you both on and off the field?
 KB: My teammates would describe me as kind, respectful, and supportive.

VYPE: What role do you usually take on within your team (leader, motivator, energy, etc.)?
 KB: My role on the team is being a motivational leader and keeping the team’s energy up on and off the field.

VYPE: What’s your favorite part about being on a softball team?
 KB: My favorite part of softball is that my teammates make me feel like family.

VYPE: Who is someone that has had a big impact on your softball journey, and why?
 KB: My parents inspire me the most because they’re always supportive and do everything they can to help me improve.
