Wright City’s Kade Gaskey – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Cheryl Fisher Allstate Insurance

Winning a state championship is the dream of every athlete, and for Kade Gaskey, that dream became reality. “The feeling of knowing you have finally won state—the looks on everybody’s faces of pure joy as you look around—just always brings a happy place in my heart,” he shared. That moment was the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and the unbreakable bond formed with his teammates.
From the very beginning, Kade’s love for baseball was deeply rooted in family. His brothers were his inspiration, pushing him to be better every day. “My brothers are the ones who inspired me and are some of my biggest influences in playing this sport,” he said. Their influence shaped his work ethic and passion for the game.
Chemistry can make or break a team, and Kade believes that the relationships formed with his teammates were crucial to their success. “The team’s chemistry this year was great. It actually felt like we were brothers with all the time we spent, and I think that’s why we were able to accomplish our goal of a state championship,” he explained. That sense of unity carried them through the toughest moments of the season.
Kade’s selfless attitude is a major reason for his success. Whether at practice or in a game, Kade approaches every opportunity with the mindset of giving his best effort. His training routine reflects that dedication: “Just start every morning with a run, then have my session on a tee. Then I usually have team practices and I like to end the day by hitting the gym.”
Some challenges in sports go beyond the game, and for Kade, the loss of his brother was the most difficult moment he has ever faced. “The most challenging moment in my sports career and life has probably been the death of my brother,” he shared. “He was so impactful in my sports life, always telling me and teaching me things I have kept with myself today. It’s still a thing I’m overcoming, but I just try to work hard for him as I know he would want.” His brother’s legacy continues to push him forward, fueling his drive to succeed.
Looking ahead, Kade has big goals for himself and his team. “Some goals and hopes are that we get another ring, and I can do my part in helping and leading,” he said. With another season ahead, he plans to work hard, keep improving, and, most importantly, enjoy the game.
Beyond high school, baseball remains part of his plan. “Yes, I’m wanting to pursue baseball in college,” Kade confirmed. With his determination and love for the sport, there’s no doubt he’ll continue to make an impact at the next level.
For younger athletes, his advice is simple: “Start working your butt off to achieve that goal that you want to achieve. Do not settle for mediocre, and strive to be better than you were the day before.”
With his work ethic, love for the game, and strong support system, Kade Gaskey is set to leave a lasting mark on Wright City baseball.
