Idabel’s Ravian Larry – Track Spotlight – Presented by Smith’s Equipment

For Ravian Larry, stepping onto the track wasn’t just about competition—it was about discovering his natural talent and embracing a challenge. The Idabel High School athlete found his passion for running in an unexpected way.

“One day I just tried out to see what I can do, and it turned out I was faster than everyone out there,” Larry shared. That simple decision led him to a journey filled with hard work, leadership, and a relentless drive for success.

Ravian’s inspiration started close to home. “Really my brother Radale, cause we would always race, and I ended up beating him, so he really wasn’t a challenge anymore,” he said. Those backyard races sparked a competitive fire that still fuels him today.

Now a leader on the Idabel track team, Larry embraces the responsibility that comes with setting the tone for his teammates. “I’m the leader on the team,” he said. “I prepare by getting ready mentally, setting good examples for my teammates.” That leadership goes beyond words—it’s about showing up every day with focus and determination.

His dedication is paying off. Last season, Larry and his teammates faced one of their biggest challenges at the state meet, but they proved their strength when it mattered most. “The most challenging is last year at state,” he said. “We overcame it by winning when nobody believed in us.” The victory was made even sweeter by the bond he shares with his teammates. “Running up to my teammate Quinton Zerrita after winning state,” Larry recalled as one of his favorite memories.

This season, Larry’s goals are set even higher. “My goals are winning state again, and running a 10.5 PR,” he said. That level of success requires intense preparation. “A typical week of training: Three days out the week we work on being explosive, the rest we are running everything down from a 300,” he explained.

Community support also fuels his drive. “We thrive off their encouragement to do our best,” Larry said.

Off the track, he keeps his routine simple but focused. “My hobbies outside of sports, simply just playing my game, or working out at the gym,” he shared.

Looking to the future, Larry’s vision is clear. “I see myself at Utah State being a star on and off the field,” he said. And when it comes to those who’ve shaped his journey, he’s quick to give credit. “I’d like to thank my dad for always being there for me when no one else was,” he said.

With unwavering focus and a commitment to excellence, Larry is determined to leave his mark—both at Idabel and beyond.
