Broken Bow’s Haylie Brantley – Softball Spotlight – Presented by James Hodge Dodge of Broken Bow

Growing up around the ball field, Haylie Brantley developed a love for the game early. “I’ve been at a ball field since I can remember, either playing or watching,” she said. “I had great coaches early on, my dad being one of them. I would say he probably influenced me the most.” Now a senior at Broken Bow High School, Haylie is making her final season memorable by stepping up as a leader on her team.

“I would consider myself one of the leaders on the team,” she shared. “I try to motivate my teammates, hype them up, keep the positive energy, and have a good work ethic.” Haylie takes pride in fostering team chemistry, a quality she believes has been key to their success. “The team has great chemistry—most of us have been playing together since we were little. The freshmen are scrappy, and that’s what best describes this team.”

Balancing her athletic commitments has taught Haylie the value of hard work and time management. “A typical week of training for me is complicated because I split softball practice and track practice,” she explained. “So, I have to put a lot of extra work in on my own. After practice, I will stay and hit and do some fielding work. On weekends, you’ll find me in the cages or on the field putting in some work.”

For Haylie, one of the most memorable moments of her softball career was punching the team’s ticket to state for the third time. “That’s always a memorable moment,” she said with pride. Looking ahead, Haylie has big goals, both on and off the field. “My goals for this season are to be a leader for our team, keep working hard, have a winning season, and play in the state tournament.”

After high school, Haylie will continue her athletic career running track at Ouachita Baptist University, but she will always cherish the lessons and experiences she gained through softball. “Looking back, I would have to say I’m the most proud of making it to state three years in a row,” she said. “I’m thankful for my teammates, coaches, fans, and most importantly, my family, for supporting me throughout my journey.”
