Battiest’s Olivia Estep – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Pine Cellular

For Olivia Estep, sports have always been a major part of her life. “I started playing basketball in kindergarten in Arkansas,” she shared. “I started playing softball when we moved to Oklahoma in middle school. Pole vault came later after transferring to Battiest my sophomore year.” A senior at Battiest High School, Olivia has embraced her multi-sport career with passion and determination.
The support of her family has been a key influence in her journey. “I grew up loving watching sports with my dad and watching my brother play baseball,” Olivia explained. “Whenever I was given the chance to play softball, it wasn’t a hard decision. So, my dad and brother are my biggest influences.”
Olivia’s leadership shines on the softball field, where she aims to guide her younger teammates. “Our team is very young in general, so I feel like I need to be a positive leader on the field,” she said. “It is hard when things are not going our way, but it is important to keep our heads up and keep working.”
Despite challenges, Olivia has celebrated memorable moments during her career. “My most memorable moment was winning a home district last season,” she recalled. “We started off strong in the first game but struggled some after that. But we came together as a team and kept our heads up and ended up with a win. The boys also won their districts the same day, so it was fun to celebrate both wins.”
