Battiest’s Chase Pollard – Fall Baseball Spotlight – Presented by McCurtain County National Bank

What inspired Chase Pollard’s passion for baseball? “What motivated me was always the thought of playing baseball in college and seeing my hard work pay off,” Chase shares. “That motivates me to work harder.” As a senior at Battiest High School, Chase has spent countless hours refining his skills and chasing his dreams.

Chase plays two vital roles on the field: pitcher and left fielder. His approach to perfecting his craft is meticulous. “It has taken a lot for me to be successful in my sport,” Chase explains. “I’ve had many long hours in the gym and on the field trying to strengthen my body and learn what I need to be doing for my position, trying to perfect my craft.”

The influence of baseball legend Nolan Ryan has been a major source of inspiration for Chase. “Nolan Ryan is who I always thought of when pitching,” Chase says. “He’s the guy that made me want to learn what it takes to be a pitcher.” Closer to home, Chase credits his father as his greatest role model. “My dad has always believed in me my whole high school career and has taught me a lot about baseball,” he shares. “He’s always trying to help me get better.”

Reflecting on his high school career, Chase recalls a moment that stands out. “I would say the highlight moment of my career was the first time I ever got to pitch in high school,” he says. “That feeling for me as a freshman, getting to pitch the first game of the season, was just indescribable. I went out and played the best I could.”

For Chase, representing Battiest High School and his community is an honor. “It means a lot to me to represent my school and community,” he explains. “I have a sense of pride and responsibility wearing my school’s colors. I know my performance doesn’t just reflect me but also my family and the community I’m in, so I strive to play with sportsmanship to hold a positive image.”

After graduation, Chase plans to attend OSU-IT to pursue a career in the lineman trade. Although his next chapter may take him away from the baseball diamond, Chase reflects fondly on his time in the sport. “These years playing baseball in high school were some of the best,” he says. “I thank everyone for believing in me and giving me the support I needed.”
