Broken Bow Savages Basketball Team – Presented by Weyerhaeuser

BROKEN BOW SAVAGES

BOYS

Coach: RYAN WOOLSEY

23-24 Record: 16-11

The Broken Bow Savages boys basketball team enters the 2024 season with confidence, driven by an experienced roster and high expectations under head coach Ryan Woolsey. With a 2023 record of 16-11, Woolsey looks to build on last year’s progress, and he’s optimistic about his team’s potential for a strong showing. “We return four starters from last year’s team, including one of the state’s top players, sophomore Greydon Howell,” Woolsey said. “Greydon burst onto the scene as a freshman, averaging over 20 points per game, with several games scoring in the 40s. This year, we’re looking to surround Greydon with a stronger supporting cast as everyone is a year older and better.”

Anchoring that supporting cast are senior forward Tyrin Tinajero, a big presence on the court known for his defensive skill, and Masyn Williston, a senior guard who brings consistency and game experience to the floor. Woolsey expects these two seasoned players, both of whom have spent three seasons with the team, to be critical in establishing the team’s competitive rhythm and leadership.

Coach Woolsey has high hopes for junior AJ Brannon as well, a guard who “really found his stride at the end of last year.” Woolsey sees Brannon’s upward trajectory continuing this season, and he’s also expecting significant contributions from Jaxson McDaniel, a junior guard and returning starter who is set to have a breakout campaign.

The spotlight, however, shines on sophomore sensation Greydon Howell. Howell impressed as a freshman by averaging over 20 points per game and showing a flair for high-scoring performances, including multiple games with points in the 40s. With his talent and tenacity, Woolsey sees Howell as one of the top five players in the state. This season, Howell is expected to continue leading the Savages, both on the scoreboard and in setting a standard of excellence for his teammates.

In addition to Howell, junior guard AJ Brannon has also received high praise, a testament to his work ethic and recent progress on the court. With Howell and Brannon leading the offense and veterans like Tinajero and Williston adding depth, the Savages are geared up for a competitive season.

The Broken Bow Savages bring a powerful mix of experienced seniors, dynamic juniors, and standout underclassmen to the 2024 season, and coach Woolsey is confident that his team’s growth and improved chemistry will make them a formidable force on the court.
